Position Function | The director will work closely with frontline fundraising staff and Foundation leadership to develop strategies using industry best practices for proactive research and prospect management efforts to ensure Ball State University is building a broad-based principal and major gift pipeline. The director provides leadership and sets the strategic direction for prospect identification and qualification, proactive research, and prospect strategy. The position is a critical player in building and growing a sustainable donor pipeline. |
Minimum Education | Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. A combination of education and work-related experience may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree. |
Minimum Experience | At least three years of professional work experience in higher education, non-profit or equivalent setting; three or more years of fundraising, development, analytics or research experience. |
Minimum Other | Proficiency in the Microsoft suite; Experience with databases and/or CRM’s; management experience. |
Authorization to work in the US | Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship. |
Preferred Education | Master’s degree. |
Preferred Experience | More than five years of prospect management and/or research experience; thorough understanding of and experience in major gift prospect identification and moves management within a university or related setting; Ability to interpret, analyze and summarize complex biographical, business and financial data; Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of philanthropy and in particular the ethics and best practices set by Apra (Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement); working experience with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge and Fundraiser Performance Management; Familiarity with the demands of Prospect Management/Research during a capital campaign. |
