JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Director of Pharmacy Technician Program / Advising Pharmacist assists the Program Chair and Lead Instructor in the administration, organization, direction and supervision of the Pharmacy Technician Program. The Pharmacist shall meet all qualifications as required by the Board of Pharmacy for the State of Washington and hold the additional certification of Preceptor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in maintaining standards of education and accreditation by the Washington State Pharmacy Board and other accrediting bodies.
  • Assist the Program Chair when such authority is delegated.
  • Advise in the administration, direction and supervision of the Pharmacy program, faculty and students.
  • Advise in the orientation of new faculty member and students.
  • Conduct advising interviews with students as needed.
  • Evaluate selection of new library books, reference materials, and audio-visual training aids as needed.
  • Review textbooks annually to determine validity and usage as needed.
  • Participate in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum as needed.
  • Participate in evaluation and revision of individual course objectives and content as needed.
  • Advise Program Chair in student and faculty disciplinary problems as needed.
  • Advise student learning experiences in the clinical facilities as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of current developments in Pharmacy Technician education.
  • Facilitate use of innovative methods and/or materials for teaching/learning.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Current Pharmacy license required. 
  • License must not expire and completion of necessary continuing education requirements as prescribed by the licensing board maintained during employment.
  • 3 years of demonstrated success in a management position.
  • Knowledge of teaching methodology
  • Superior computer skills including MS Office Suite
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills

COMPENSATION:

  • Non-Exempt – Hourly position
  • Part-Time position
  • $41.00-$50.22/hr   
  • Compensation dependent on experience, knowledge and education level
