The USC School of Pharmacy, Keck Medicine of USC Specialty Pharmacy is accepting applications for a Director of Pharmacy with ambulatory care skills to provide patient care services in a Specialty Pharmacy setting. Responsibilities expected of the Director of Pharmacy will be:

  • Perform pharmaceutical care activities for assigned patient population.
  • Monitor, evaluate, document, and report patient outcomes.
  • Provide or coordinate preparation and dispensing of medication, and all related equipment and supplies, in accordance with physician orders, federal and state laws and regulations, and USC policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate all clinical pharmacy care for assigned patient population.
  • Evaluate all physician ordered medications for appropriateness of therapy, and maintenance of patient specific optimal therapy through clinical management of medications provided in relation to individual diagnosis.
  • Evaluation for drug interactions, clinical monitoring, laboratory and culture monitoring, medication administration compliance and effectiveness.
  • Provide drug information, perform clinical consultation and patient counseling; communicate with physicians, nurses and patients
  • Perform tasks and maintain documentation including but not limited to preparation of patient records, patient assessment, care planning, progress/communication notes, medication profile, pharmacokinetic monitoring, renal dosing, clinical case conferences, ongoing clinical assessment, supply management
  • Assist technician staff in securing prior authorizations, and assisting physician staff in completing prior authorizations in a timely manner
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities.
  • Precept IPPE and APPE students
  • Act as a preceptor for the USC Community Pharmacy Residency program.
  • Exhibit peer leadership by maintaining pharmacy coverage and assisting other personnel in completing workload as required to maintain clinical pharmacy services and production services.
  • Manage all operational needs for the pharmacy
  • Lead pharmacy accreditation efforts for URAC and other accreditations as necessary

The applicant must have a degree from an accredited (ACPE) school of pharmacy and be a registered pharmacist in the state of CA. Pharm.D., residency or equivalent experience preferred. Specialty pharmacy experience preferred.

Registered pharmacist license (State of CA) required.
