Reporting to the Ohio State Online enrollment leader and serving as a leader and expert for all online recruitment activities, the Director of Online Recruitment will lead and manage all online recruitment strategies, external development of university-to-business recruiting pipelines, direct the development of teams of recruiters, and serve as a senior liaison between college and university personnel for online student recruitment.

The Director of Online Recruitment will be responsible for leading recruitment activities of individual recruiters and team leaders for assigned online programs. This person will be an excellent salesperson who understands how to sell and convert prospective students on attending an online program at Ohio State. The Director will develop strategies for student enrollment, communication for prospects who have expressed interest in an Ohio State online program, and admissions process to achieve enrollment goals.

This person will have a thorough understanding of student recruitment tactics to help put processes in place to drive lead conversion. They will train their teams on different sales strategies and how to support prospects on their journey to starting a new online program. The Director will develop ways to ensure the prospect experience is always a positive one as their teams work to engage prospects, qualify candidates, explain academic programs and assess a prospect’s fit with their stated program of interest. A critical component of this will be developing and tracking key performance indicators related to student recruitment. The Director will be expected to analyze and look for gaps within the recruitment funnel to drive continuous improvement.

The Director of Online Recruitment will work closely with the online marketing team to ensure leads that are coming in are good quality as well as ways to help continue to encourage applicants to move through the application funnel. They will work closely with the online re-enrollment team as applicants confirm and become ready to enroll as students with any additional help these prospects may need or if they are choosing to defer their confirmation. This person will work closely with college partners and central admissions groups to ensure the online student fits into university processes and colleges understand what their potential student pool looks like. They will also help develop and maintain university-to-business relationships to build a future student pipeline.


Education and Experience

Required: Bachelor’s degree required. 10+ years in sales, recruitment, communication or related field. Experience in recruiting or sales, managing people, creating a positive prospective student experience, and working cross-functionally team. Broad knowledge and expertise in sales tactics, selling an expensive nontangible product in a virtual environment, understanding of the recruitment funnel, working with marketing and an inside sales team, and collaborating across a large organization.

Desired:  Master’s degree in relevant discipline preferred. 12+ years of experience preferred. Experience in higher education recruitment, working with nontraditional, online prospects in a recruitment funnel, managing a large organization, and working across levels within an organization preferred. Deeper knowledge and experience of the requirements.
