Summary of Job Duties:

The Director of Nursing provides visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Nursing programs. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program, ensuring its academic excellence, compliance with accreditation standards, and alignment with the institution's mission. The Director will foster a positive learning environment for students, faculty, and clinical partners while promoting the program's reputation and growth.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Nursing curriculum, ensuring its alignment with current trends in nursing practice, educational best practices, and accreditation standards.
• Oversee faculty recruitment, development, and evaluation, creating a supportive and effective teaching environment.
• Manage the Nursing program budget, allocating resources efficiently and effectively.
• Mentor nursing and allied health faculty, providing performance feedback and promoting professional development.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clinical partners to facilitate student clinical placements.
• Oversee student academic advising and address student concerns and issues promptly.
• Lead program self-studies and prepare reports for accreditation agencies.
• Stay abreast of current trends in nursing education and healthcare, and recommend program enhancements to reflect these trends.
• Represent the nursing program at college-wide committees and meetings.
• Oversee the acquisition and maintenance of educational resources (equipment, technology) for the nursing program.
• Serve on campus committees as appropriate.
• Participate fully in the activities of the faculty and campus.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Nursing or a related field preferred; Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
  • Preferred five years of experience in nursing education, with one year in a leadership or administrative role.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of accreditation standards for nursing programs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and healthcare partners.
  • Proficiency in educational technology.
