The Opportunity:

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Director of Linux and Middleware to join the Information Technology department in Daytona Beach, Florida or in a teleworking arrangement.  Reporting to the Executive Director of Infrastructure, the Director of Linux and Middleware leads a team responsible for Linux server administration, Oracle middleware (WebLogic) administration, Oracle identity and access management, and high-performance computing.  The position requires experience leading technical teams, an understanding of information security concepts, and knowledge on how evolving technologies in the market are improving customer experience and risk management capabilities. A working knowledge of Oracle middleware and related technologies is required.

 

The Director of Linux and Middleware Provides leadership in support of identity and access management strategy, roadmap, policies, guidelines, standards, and procedures -- creating business value and meeting security and audit requirements. They proactively collaborate and build relationships with peer leaders and stakeholders to articulate system capability and align features to the organization’s strategic initiative roadmap, keeping modernization and cloud evolution in the radar. The Director provides guidance on workload as needed which may include an agile approach for prioritizing backlogs, user stories, features, and similar. The position embraces effective leadership strategies and leverages mentoring and professional development planning in support of their team, advocating for career development and growth. Acts as an escalation contact for technical troubleshooting and beyond, encouraging process improvement and removing roadblocks. Must have the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and coach team members through them as well. Experience in leading and executing projects is necessary as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with the project management office for enterprise projects.

Qualifications

Required skills, knowledge, abilities:

  • Seven (7+) or more years of Linux engineering experience with five (5+) years in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience with designing, deploying, and supporting Oracle, SOA, OBIEE and Oracle Databases
  • Prior experience deploying and supporting Oracle middleware (weblogic)
  • 5+ years of experience in Identity and Access Management, including requirements, design, implementation, deployment, and operations and maintenance in a large and complex environment
  • Experience supporting various identity related platforms and product - Okta, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Oracle Access Manager, Oracle Identity Manager, Oracle Internet Directory
  • Knowledge of cloud IAM Architecture and SaaS delivered IAM services
  • Experience deploying infrastructure to cloud providers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships with customers and vendors

Preferred skills, knowledge, abilities:

  • Six (6) or more years’ experience leading day-to-day operations support over an Oracle environment in an enterprise environment.
  • SSCP or CISSP certification
  • Experience with deploying, administering, or supporting resources in Azure
  • Experience with High Performance Computing
  • Experience working in higher education.
