Glimpse of the Job and Opportunity to Contribute

The Director, IT Infrastructure Systems collaborates with the Executive Director of Technology Operations and will lead a comprehensive, university-wide team for platforms including Windows, Linux, Storage, Cloud infrastructure, and enterprise back-up environments.

Taking a collaborative approach, the Director will plan, organize, staff, lead, and unify operations across departments. Key to ensuring operational credibility and service excellence for IT services through proactive management of incidents, problems, and requests. Develop, are responsible for, and lead services or projects to ensure client expectations are met or exceeded. Develop benchmarked SLAs and metrics as well as standardized reporting ensuring the effective operation of service.


A well qualified candidate will have 7 years of progressively responsible management experience in supporting faculty, staff, and students in the use of technology used in higher education. Prefer individual who has managed at a large university who has:

  • Experience with hands-on work in solving technology problems

  • Extensive experience with developing policies, procedures, and standards for installing, configuring, and supporting enterprise platforms

  • Experience in performance tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of resources

  • Experience with large scale enterprise environments in higher education

This is an Export Control position which requires a United States citizen, permanent resident, or a person granted asylum or refugee status.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ten years of related experience in the operations, maintenance, and installation of enterprise services such as servers, storage, network equipment, enterprise back-up, or cloud environments (such as Google, MS Azure, or AWS)
  • Three years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of systems security procedures and protocols
  • ITIL or PMP certification a plus
