Job Description:
The Director of Institutional Research provides the President, Provost, and senior staff with information in a variety of areas for administrative and managerial decision making. The Director is responsible for leading and coordinating a comprehensive program of institutional research and for supporting related planning, accreditation, enrollment, and assessment activities. Reporting to the Provost, the Director is responsible for any recruitment and appointment of staff and the development and oversight of the Institutional Research budget.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive database for use in responding to internal and external requests for SUNY Poly, state and national surveys, and college guidebooks.
- Develop, analyze, and distribute reports on students, faculty, curriculum, enrollment, and teaching load; produces statistical reports for the State University of New York on all elements of the SIRIS reporting system to include Enrollment, Attrition/Retention, Degrees Awarded, and Compliance; and develops enrollment and workload projections.
- Conduct special studies as needed for the President, Provost, and senior staff, such as demographic information on students, faculty and staff data, and institutional assessment activities; as well as direct service and support of the SUNY Transformation Fund, including ACE (Advancing Completion through Engagement) and SUNY Poly's initiative to expand seamless transfer pathways with key feeder community colleges.
- Maintain a library containing assessment material available to faculty and staff interested in starting assessment projects and is responsible for coordination and preparation of data required for the institutional master plan and the institutional coordination of accreditation
- Coordinate all institution-wide surveys and studies related to institutional assessment and reviews for accuracy responses to surveys prepared by all campus administrative offices
- Provide leadership in developing a campus environment that encourages the use of assessment as a means to enhance the development of a student-centered culture.
- Provide leadership, oversight, and direction to direct reports to assure goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the Institution's goals and strategies. Design and implement operating strategies, plans and procedures to assure smooth functioning of SUNY Poly. Lead employees for maximum performance and dedication. Complete performance management feedback and goals per requirements. Other reasonable duties as assigned.
Salary: $90,000 - $100,000

- Institutional Research Assistant reports to the Director of Institutional Research
- Coordinator of Assessment reports to the Director of Institutional Research
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required from a College or University accredited by the US Department of Education or other internationally recognized accrediting organization.
- 5-7 years' experience in institutional research.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, strong computer and data analysis skills, supervisory experience, and knowledge of student learning outcome measures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must have substantial and appropriate experience working with relevant computer programs and applications to include: spreadsheets (e.g., Microsoft Excel), statistical packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS, etc.) and software to query SUNY Poly student record system (e.g., Discoverer, Argos, etc.).
Preferred Requirements:
- Master's degree preferred
