Responsibilities

In this role, you will serve as Human Resources Director for the Venice Family Clinic, a community health center affiliated with UCLA.  You will serve as member of the VFC’s large management team. Your primary functions include:

  • supervising H.R. staff and managing the operations of the Clinic’s Human Resources office that serves approximately 550 staff employees
  • advise and strategize with the management team on policy interpretation and/or implementation
  • recommend actions and resolve problems
  • research and analyze information to support the development of staff policies and procedure
  • identify, develop, and implement communication and training programs for managers, supervisors, and staff; ensure confidentiality of sensitive personnel and payroll information
  • act as liaison with the DGSOM Dean’s Office, Campus Human Resources, and a variety of internal and external professionals


  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of human resources practices and procedures preferably in a non-profit or university environment
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources management, including recruitment, compensation, employment, employee/labor relations, organizational development, training, and data management 
  • Working knowledge of UC system-wide staff personnel policies, practices and procedures, and collective bargaining agreements is preferred
  • Knowledge and experience working with University employee database and payroll systems, e.g. UC Path, HBS and CAR system is preferred
  • Knowledge and experience working with Community Health Centers and Head Start programs is preferred
  • Knowledge of UCLA benefits programs; ability to interpret and communicate complex benefits information to employees at all levels preferred
  • Experience in developing job descriptions and performing analyses of jobs within the organization 
  • Detailed knowledge of employee relations matters, associated practices, procedures and laws regarding performance management, corrective action, and progressive discipline including termination of employment of both represented and non-represented employees 
  • Skill in mediating confrontational situations among emotionally distressed and frequently uncooperative parties 
  • Demonstrated experience in managing office staff, including recruitment, training, supervising, organizing, delegating, evaluating, and counseling and disciplining when necessary 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of affirmative action/equal opportunity guidelines
