About the Position:

Working closely with the Dean, Sr. Associate Dean, and faculty and staff across the school, the position will oversee all aspects of the recruitment, admissions, and yield of prospective master’s students. At its core, this position will devise ways to find, recruit and yield strong applicants and to drive growth. To do this, the position will establish annual goals and strategic plans for meeting targets and will work with many stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of said plan, both exciting people about the tasks at hand and holding responsible parties accountable. This role is equal parts strategy and implementation; likewise, success depends equally on managing direct reports and working productively with faculty and staff across the Schar School and Mason. At the Ph.D. level, the position will oversee a staff member who will work on a range of logistical and process-oriented tasks to recruit students. The position will be expected to regularly present and make recommendations based on admissions trends and numbers and to proactively work with the Director of Marketing to ensure effective communication with prospective students, both those within our pipeline and those who might be considering graduate education.
This position reports to the Senior Associate Dean of Administration of the Schar School. Travel and occasional weekend and evening hours are required.
   
Required Qualifications:
 
  • Master’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Substantial experience in higher education admissions (undergraduate and/or graduate) or a related field (at least five years is preferred);
  • Demonstrated ability to set goals and develop strategic initiatives and priorities for a team or unit;
  • Experience that demonstrates effective management and supervision of others;
  • Experience developing innovative and effective student recruitment initiatives at scale;
  • Understanding of effective marketing strategies and some experience in implementing such strategies;
  • Capacity to speak and write in an informed, engaging, and persuasive way about graduate degree programs;
  • Knowledge of best practices in allocating scholarships;
  • Ability to organize recruitment and yield events;
  • Proven leadership and keen willingness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented office; ability to oversee direct reports and work with a broad team outside one’s own supervisory control; and
  • Strong experience using technology to support data management and presentations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Familiarity with Banner, MicroStrategy and ApplyYourself are desirable skill sets.
