About the Department

The University of Cincinnati Lindner College of Business delivers academic excellence with an emphasis on experiential learning in a multi-disciplinary environment, adding real-world value to students and the communities they serve. The college enrolls over 4,200 undergraduate students and 1,100 graduate students and provides them with unique opportunities to build professional experience, cultural competency and leadership skills through co-operative education, internships, field-study research, and cross-disciplinary studios. The college’s new $120 million, 225,000-square-foot facility, Carl H. Lindner Hall, which opened in Fall 2019, positions Lindner among the nation’s best business schools with excellent programs and high growth potential. The Lindner Graduate Programs Office contains eleven current staff who support the eight residential and six online graduate programs offered by the college.


Job Overview

The Carl H. Lindner College of Business is seeking qualified applicants to join our team of graduate program recruiters and academic advisors. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Graduate Programs, the Director of Graduate Recruiting and Student Success will direct a team of recruiters, and will design and execute recruitment efforts as well as related marketing initiatives for the College’s in-person and online professional graduate degree and certificate programs. This position will also oversee a team of academic advisors and program coordinators responsible for monitoring student progress, providing guidance in determining student interests and objectives, and helping students to locate and navigate the resources they need to successfully complete their degree programs. 
 

This position is responsible for the overall implementation of strategy, policies, and procedures across all of the degree and certificate programs ensuring a seamless and consistent provision of student services from marketing to admissions to advising and graduation. This position may also involve some direct responsibility for marketing and recruiting activities for the MBA or another graduate degree program. 

 

This position is eligible for a limited hybrid work schedule pending department approval. 


Essential Functions
  • Responsible for development, implementation, administration and direction of student recruitment programs with primary responsibilities for strategic planning; formulate, recommend, approve and implement internal procedures and controls; set goals to achieve strategic objectives; assume management responsibility for a wide range of projects/programs.
  • Prepare reports and assessments, interpret and disseminate information, provide advice, write proposals, develop recruitment promotional materials, construct contractual agreements, and ensure that all programs and services comply with university, state and federal regulations.
  • Keep abreast of current trends in graduate student recruitment.
  • May provide direct recruiting and admissions support for one or more degree programs, such as the MBA program.
  • Represent Lindner College of Business at various recruiting events throughout the admission cycle; includes travel (primarily domestic) to recruit students and market the programs.
  • Organizes program visits and leads on-campus and off-campus information sessions for prospective students; plans, recruits’ attendees and delivers presentation either in person or virtually.
  • Build community among alumni to serve as event hosts, attend recruiting/yield events, and provide introductions into their networks.
  • Maintain current knowledge of prerequisites, graduation requirements, university procedures, policies, and other student services requirements. 
  • Develop and execute a tracking and communication strategy for all students resulting in a proactive admissions and advising processes.
  • Regularly collaborate with program Academic Program Directors to align daily operations with short and long-term goals and strategies in support of the student’s academic experience. 
  • Liaise with staff of Lindner Career Services, Undergraduate Program Office, and International Programs Office. 
  • Implement and monitor department budget; authority for budget, revenue and expense planning and approving expenditure; has signature authority for recruitment programs; reports on budget status to executive level.
  • Will provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). 
  • Hours may vary based on operational needs; some evenings and weekends may be required. Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Experience
  • Seven (7) years of relevant experience.
  • Supervision experience. 

Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Experience in talent acquisition activities (recruiting, evaluation, admission, etc.) in a higher educational or corporate environment.
  • Excellent sales ability; must be able to recruit in highly competitive market.
  • Requires a high degree of professionalism.
  • Advocacy for and experience in shaping and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in daily activities; strong work ethic and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously and ability to work collaboratively in a small but expanding office.
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills. 
  • Excellent skills to engage with complex organizations with multiple stakeholders in all levels of the pipeline organizations. 
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills.
  • Experience in directly recruiting for a graduate business degree program.
  • Demonstrable experience in the supervision, hiring and training of staff in a higher education student services setting.
