Duties include working with the dean on new programs and initiatives, assisting program directors in program management, ensuring smooth daily operations, and managing special opportunities and programming for current students and alumni (artist and teaching residencies, public art competitions, etc.). The director is responsible for collaborative oversight of annual events, including orientations, program residencies, colloquia, visiting artist series, and more, in consultation with the dean and program directors. Development of written content for print collateral, web, internal and external communications, and more. REPORTS TO: Associate Provost and Dean of Graduate, Professional, and Continuing EducationSUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises Administrative Assistant II, Contractors, and Grad Assistants SALARY: $60,000 - $70,000 commensurate with experiencePosition is governed by the APA collective bargaining agreementTo be considered for the position, please apply DIRECTLY to the MassArt employment opportunities page: https://massart.interviewexchange.com/static/clients/576MAM1/index.jspKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Leads all aspects of the academic scheduling process (supervising the Administrative Assistant II), including course schedules, walkthroughs, reviews, thesis exhibitions, summer activities, and other ad-hoc requests. Collaborates with the Registrar's office and graduate office team to establish the annual timeline for course schedule development. Develops operational schedules related to the oversight of student communication, including but not limited to, registration and advising. Ensures correspondence meets the style guidelines of the division, and works with marketing to ensure alignment with the (new) brand identity of the collegeDevelops and produces programming and activities, including but not limited to orientation, walk throughs, and colloquia-events and programs intended to enrich the educational experiences offered to Graduate Students. Works with the dean on communications to participants.Oversee graduate programs' alumni artist and teaching residencies, including outreach, handling of applications, negotiations with partner institutions, Arranges payment of fees from institutional collaborators, among others..Provides oversight of team members, and collaboration with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, regarding schedules and timelines as they relate to the data collection that supports accreditation. Oversees Admin II in the timing and accuracy of student advising, degree audits, and progression of students towards graduation. Manages all aspects of the graduate assistantship process including gathering of position requests, working with the dean on approvals, connecting assignments with students, timesheet approval, and payments. Oversees contractor positions in organizing and maintaining an active, high quality social media presence. Works with marketing, admissions, and contractors on developing marketing campaigns and maintaining timely creation of assets on a semester and annual basis. Reviews website regularly to ensure updated program and human resource materials.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Master's degree or the equivalent combination of formal education and experience;A minimum of 5 years of directly related professional work experience in a post secondary institution, or other educational setting is required;Experience in developing and implementing academic programming;Strong written and verbal communication skills;Familiarity with programs in art, design, and/or education;Experience working with diverse populations, including adult learnersKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:High level of motivation to support graduate education and graduate students across a complex organizational structure. Must be self-motivated, anticipate problems, and demonstrate significant independent judgment; must be able to take initiative and follow through on tasks independently. Demonstrated record of leadership, ability to collaborate, able to develop and maintain effective processes and workflows, commitment to professional growth, and a high degree of integrity are required.Computer and design skills are essential along with an aptitude to learn new tools. Commonly used software packages include Google Suite, Adobe suite, WordPress, MailChimp, and Ellucian Colleague.Possess the courage to provide candid feedback to both direct reports and supervisors to support a culture of improvement PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:Work experience in a graduate program in higher education Work experience in Admissions, Registration, Curriculum design preferredWORKING CONDITIONS:Standard office work settingHybrid work setting, generally a minimum 3 days per week in the office, flexibility required to attend events on campus.
