Our team at the University of Alaska Foundation works hard to assist the University of Alaska in growing private philanthropy and ensuring that donor intent is met. As the Director of Fund Stewardship, you will assist our universities in using the philanthropic resources donated for their benefit. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Fund and Gift Services, the Director of Fund Stewardship will work as part of the Donor Relations team to build relationships with donors, fiscal staff, and signature authorities throughout UAA, UAF, and UAS to help them put private donations to work. The Director of Fund Stewardship leads the UA Foundation Fund distribution process in close cooperation with UA Foundation team members, university signature authorities, and fiscal staff to ensure the timely and appropriate use of philanthropic funds.

To thrive in this role, you must be a savvy user of Google Workspace tools and Microsoft Office Suite, (especially Excel) enjoy collaborative teamwork, and possess strong communication skills. If you have experience in project management and can handle multiple projects simultaneously, then this is the position for you. You need to be detail-oriented and self-motivated, someone who picks up ideas and skill sets quickly, enjoys being part of a team, is excited to grow and evolve your skills, has an appreciation of punny jokes, enjoys a “wicked” sense of humor, and likes to laugh…a lot.

This position allows you to use both sides of your brain. The analytical and systematic side as well as the artsy one. Not only will you manage the distribution of philanthropic funds, but you will also implement impact reporting which allows for your creativity to shine. Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in a related field and five years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Experience:
• Minimum of (5) years prior experience with university financial administration policies and procedures.
• Minimum of (5) years prior supervisory, managerial, or project management work experience.
• Minimum of (5) years of work experience in a comparable philanthropic role, with demonstrated experience in providing proactive support and working independently.
• Thorough knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, and guidelines related to philanthropic fund administration.
• Considerable knowledge of university and foundation financial systems including Banner and Financial Edge.

Position Details:

This position can be located in either Anchorage or Fairbanks, Alaska, and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and a full employee benefits package . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule , Grade 81, based on education and experience.
