The mission of Boston University's Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases Policy & Research (CEID, pronounced like 'seed') is to improve societal resilience against the threat of emerging and epidemic infectious diseases worldwide through research, capacity strengthening, training, and advocacy. The Director, Finance and Operations will direct the administrative functions, create a long-term development and financial strategy, and facilitate effective financial management and oversee the day to day operations of CEID. Core responsibilities include budget management and planning, financial tracking and reporting, pre- and post-award grant administration for external funding, and support for hiring and other administrative needs. This role will be the primary administrative liaison to the Office of Research as well as other central BU administrative offices and will serve as the internal expert on all financial and administrative matters. The Director, Finance and Operations, reports to the Executive Director of the CEID, and oversees administrative assistants and part time student worker positions at the Center. The ideal candidate has grant development and management experience, in addition to a finance and accounting background.


  • Demonstrated accounting experience, exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office software
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Ability to take initiative, think strategically, problem solve effectively and work well with a team
  • Eight years of experience in a related field and B.A./B.S. Degree (or five to eight years of experience in a related field and Master's Degree (e.g., MBA)
