JOB DUTIES
Description
The Director, Enterprise AI, provides strategic vision and insight to evolve the ability of UCLA Health Information Technology (UHIT) to procure, develop, and deploy AI solutions in clinical and business operations, and to do so in a manner that aligns with the UC Responsible AI Principles put forward by the UC Office of the President. In support of AI governance, the Director monitors decentralized and ad hoc uses of AI throughout the health system and aligns interests to build unified portfolio of AI solutions that have a clear benefit and impact to the organization. To accelerate AI adoption and success, the Director collaborates with clinical and business stakeholders to increase AI literacy and stakeholder trust. Leveraging investments in data management, applications implementation, and technical infrastructure, the Director leads an advanced analytics team and collaborates with other UHIT leaders to create an ecosystem conducive to AI development. The Director implements a cohesive and connected AI strategy that takes advantage of nascent enabling technologies to improve patient care, create operational efficiencies, and spur translational research. This is a flex hybrid role which will require you to be on site as needed for business needs. Salary offers are determined based on various factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, and equity. The full salary range for this position is $146,900.00 – $371,300.00 annually. The budgeted salary that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is approximately between $146,900.00 – $270,000 annually.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
• The Director has a minimum of five years of progressively responsible management experience in information technology with experience managing an IT development and operations team in an enterprise data and analytics domain. • The Director has experience managing complex business requirements that are inputs to the provisioning of data and analytics services. • The Director has a minimum of three years of progressively responsible management experience in AI, machine learning, statistics, and predictive modeling. • The Director is proficient in the use of cloud technologies that enable AI solution development. • Experience in the healthcare data and analytics space is ideal. • The Director is immediately recognizable as a leader, possessing strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills, and able to establish credibility, rapport, and strong relationships with a broad set of senior executives, clinicians, and research faculty throughout the organization. • The Director is a results-oriented individual with an ability to effect meaningful change in a complex organization. • The Director champions the AI strategy for UCLA Health and has a natural ability to articulate that strategy to a variety of constituents. • The Director demonstrates natural relationship management and influencing skills with the ability to be both strategic and tactical. • An undergraduate degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics field is preferred, but not required. • An advanced degree (Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy) in a field associated with data science is preferred, but not required.
