Description of Work Unit
The Academic and Student Affairs Office is the arm of the College of Engineering Dean’s Office, which supports student services. Our office helps in the recruitment, retention, counseling, career and curriculum support for the undergraduate students in the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering at Colorado State University.
 
Our office directs the Engineering Science program, supports the College Curriculum Committee and coordinates many College of Engineering events. 
 
In addition, we are the first point of contact for many of our incoming students and their families, both undergraduate and graduate. The office houses advising, career services and the Diversity Programs in Engineering.
Position Summary
The Director of Enrollment, Access, and Equity is responsible for leading a team of five professional staff and fifty student staff, including four direct report professional staff: an Undergraduate Recruitment Program Manager, an Outreach and Equity Coordinator, a Scholarship Coordinator, and an Administrative Assistant; one indirect report professional staff: a Denver Regional Outreach and Transfer Coordinator; and fifty indirect report student staff.
This individual leads the college’s strategic direction related to undergraduate recruitment, enrollment, outreach, and equity, and provides leadership to staff in college academic departments who are responsible for the execution of these outcomes. Major responsibilities include researching and tracking national admissions and enrollment trends to strategically plan for future college enrollment 5-10 years out from the present and advising the college executive team regarding these trends.
The Director uses a data-driven approach to implement best practices, strategies, procedures, and to suggest new initiatives and programs that have an impact at both the college and university level. Successful candidates must be able to analyze and interpret data to solve complex challenges and guide strategic direction, with a focus on innovation, efficiency, access, and equity, and must manage multiple stakeholder viewpoints through the creation of a shared vision and collaborative execution of priorities. The ability to determine how to best allocate financial, people, and time resources for a high level of impact and efficiency is crucial in this role.

Required Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, liberal arts, or related degree field
  • Seven (7) years of experience working in higher education in Admissions, Student Affairs, or Academic Affairs at a Program Manager or higher level
  • Five (5) years of experience managing direct report professional staff
  • Experience creating and managing an annual budget
  • Experience analyzing data to guide strategic planning and operational processes
  • Experience working with students from historically excluded populations (first generation, students of color, women, LGBTQ+)
  • Experience leading multiple stakeholders in the creation of a shared vision and implementation of initiatives to meet program objectives
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Student Affairs or similar area of study
  • Ten (10) years of experience working in higher education
  • Experience working with STEM programs
  • Experience managing a student ambassador program or student employee team
  • Experience with grant-writing and reporting and/or fundraising
  • Experience envisioning and implementing equity initiatives

  • Analyze and interpret data to envision innovative solutions to complex recruitment, enrollment, access, and equity challenges, including the development of new programs, initiatives, and procedures to meet strategic goals.
  • Lead the development of student engagements that will benefit engineering enrollment 5-10 years in the future, creating “funnels” of increasing engagements over time.
