The Director of Engagement and Outreach develops and coordinates activities that promote MCEC among K-12 schools, associations and non-profit organizations, professional communities, national and international partners, and beyond. Existing activities to be strengthened and coordinated include: visits to K-12 schools across Maine and New England by Faculty and Students Ambassadors; MCEC tours; Girls Engineer Maine program; Girls Scout badging; Science Fairs; Robotics events; and more. The Director of Engagement and Outreach will work in close collaboration with MCEC Enrollment Management staff to develop, coordinate, and implement targeted activities within areas of strategic interest for recruitment growth for MCEC programs at the University of Maine, the University of Southern Maine, and across the University of Maine System. Typical hiring range for this soft money funded position is $65,000 to $75,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required:

  • Typically has the education associated with a Master’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Five or more years of demonstrated experience in engagement and outreach activities;
  • Excellent working knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, and word processing;
  • Demonstrated experience in liaising with senior administrators, responding to and handling matters of a complex, confidential, and sensitive nature;
  • Excellent analytical and communications skills both oral and written;
  • Ability to exercise initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and deadlines;
  • Demonstrated experience in working as a team to find creative solutions to complex problems;
  • Experience organizing meetings and events including multiple constituencies (academic, industry, K-12, alumni, …) in various modalities (in person, remotely, hybrid);
  • Experience working with shared documents, including those based on Google Software such as Google Docs, Slides, Sheets.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with and interpreting policies and procedures pertaining to academic administration and interactions with students;
  • Experience working in complex environments involving multiple constituencies.
