Position Summary Information


Position Summary
The Director of Digital Media is responsible for the athletic department’s digital, social media, and photography efforts. As a member of the external affairs leadership team, the position also serves as the chief creative officer for the department, specifically regarding graphic design elements.
Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 166,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversight of the athletic departmen’s digital and social media efforts. Create and execute the digital and social media plan for the athletics department while working closely with the sport teams and monitoring their accounts on all social media platforms
  • Responsible for creating an innovative graphic identity for all sports while maintaining the brand and image of the department.
  • Coordinate the digital marketing and creative service needs of the athletics department including the production of print materials and video projects.
  • Responsible for the design, layout and preparation of distinctive graphics incorporating branded elements while maintaining the graphic integrity of the established brand; develops illustrations for logos, presentations, multimedia projects, video and ribbon boards, billboards and presentations among other projects and department needs.
  • Oversee the development, design and production of schedule cards, posters and other promotional and marketing collateral as needed.
  • Create and execute the digital and social media plan for the athletics department.
  • Coordinate and execute sponsorship fulfillment as needed.
  • Manage project timelines maintaining on-time and on-budget delivery of finished products.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Be detail-oriented and communicate effectively and appropriately
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Proficiency required in Adobe Creative Suite and video production software including but not limited to Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Final Cut Pro X and/or similar.
  • Interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the University community and the public.
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Understand and follow University, NCAA and ASUN guidelines.
  • Ability to work extended nights and weekends.
Physical Requirements
  • Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience inthe creation and coordination of Digital Media including Graphic Design, Video Production and/or Social Media Management
