The Office of Advancement helps Belmont University achieve its mission by building a stronger community of support for the entire campus amongst all its constituencies.  In collaboration with university partners, Advancement is leading the effort to prepare for the most ambitious fundraising campaign in the university’s history.  Building on a track record of success, Belmont University is undergoing a period of growth and is actively increasing its institutional advancement capacity and capabilities so it can realize its full potential as a Christ-centered university in the thriving city of Nashville, TN.

The Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business has helped students turn dreams of working in entertainment and music business into a career for 50 years and is a recognized by Billboard, TimeMagazine, Rolling Stone, Variety, and Business Week as a top educational leader in this space. Its innovative courses combine academic experience with real-world application and access to top-of-the-line equipment, cutting-edge facilities, and faculty that combine academic scholarship with real-world industry experience. The college offers four undergraduate degrees (B.A., B.F.A., B.S. & B.B.A.) and eleven areas of study (music business, songwriting, audio engineering technology, creative & entertainment industries, emerging media, journalism, motion pictures production, film & television screenwriting, media production, publishing, and sport administration). The college also offers graduate degrees (M.S.) in Audio Engineering and Sport Administration and maintains an elective specialization in entertainment and music business within the Master's of Business Administration degree (M.B.A.).

The responsibilities of the Director of Development, Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business, include:

  • Build relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporations interested in supporting the education across the music, film, television, media, sports, and broader entertainment industries.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects to cultivate, solicit and steward donors to the college. This portfolio should include prospects across all the areas of study within the college.
  • Collaborate with the college dean and leadership group to develop meaningful philanthropic initiatives consistent with the goals of the college and the University’s strategic plans and campaign goals. In doing so, this person should provide both innovative ideas and reliable strategies for fundraising and donor engagement.
  • Collaborate with the college dean, leadership team, staff, and faculty to identify opportunities for individuals, companies, and foundations to meaningfully engage with the college and its students beyond monetary donations.
  • Participate fully in the University Advancement’s prospect management process to inspire trust, encourage creative thinking, and collaborate the Belmont staff and volunteers to significantly increase philanthropic outcomes.
  • Provide strategic and practical support to the college dean and leadership team to develop engagement plans to move prospects forward in the donor engagement cycle.
  • Serve as primary liaison and functional coordinator between the college and the Office of Advancement to provide full access and support for all advancement related programs including annual giving and alumni engagement, corporate and foundation relations, planned giving, campaign reporting, and portfolio management.
  • In collaboration with the college dean and the office of advancement, provide direction and support for all campaign planning and related activities.
  • Proactively engage with the college to become an integrated part of the team and offer ideas to the college dean and leadership to identify opportunities for donor engagement.
  • Serve as an active and engaged member of the college External Relations Committee.
  • In collaboration with the college dean and the office of advancement, establish annual goals and objectives for portfolio- and college-based fundraising outcomes.

Required Education Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Master’s degree preferred.
   
Required Experience A minimum of five years of professional fundraising experience is required. You have 8+ years of experience working in or in partnership with the music, film, television, media, sports, or broader entertainment industry and have strong relationships as a result. Experience working in a development role at a non-profit is preferred.
