Job Description:

The Director of Curriculum will serve in a leadership role in the Office of Academic Affairs at the College of Dentistry. This position will provide oversight for the predoctoral curriculum along with administrative oversight for the Office of Academic Affairs.

Other duties will include:

Provides strategic direction to predoctoral curriculum.

  • Works with stakeholders throughout the college including associate deans, department chairs, division/program directors, curriculum committee and other administrative leaders to ensure strategic curriculum goals are met. This includes ensuring the curriculum meets CODA standards, alignment with INDBE and maintaining continual process improvement for accreditation.
  • This position is responsible for overseeing the curriculum management process including curriculum mapping, competency assessment tracking, course, and semester debriefings. Includes oversight of Office of Academic Affairs policies/procedures including UFCD Competencies for New Dental Graduate, Curriculum Management Plan, and others.
  • Works with stakeholders to ensure curriculum management plan analysis is completed to guide decision making; includes annual review of outcome measures, semester/course debriefings, periodic syllabi review, student evaluations of courses/faculty.
  • Responsible for external and internal program assessment reporting including BOG, SACSCOC, CODA and other university/college level reporting.
  • Assist with curriculum improvements/reform including improved integration of the basic, clinical, and behavioral sciences. Incorporate more assessment of critical thinking/self-assessment throughout the predoctoral curriculum. Encouragement of active learning, blended learning, case-based learning, and evidence-based practices throughout the predoctoral curriculum.
  • Provide faculty development/learning opportunities for course directors on improved curriculum practices.

Provides subject matter expertise to HelioCampus (formerly AEFIS curriculum management system).

  • Works with course directors, department chairs and others to ensure that syllabi are maintained standardized, and competencies tagged in the curriculum management system.
  • Work with course directors to develop course goals, student learning outcomes (SLOs) at each level of Bloom’s Taxonomy, assessments, course activities are clearly stated. 
  • Collaborate with course directors, division directors, chairs, and IT to develop rubrics when necessary.

Directs the efforts of and supervises staff within the Office of Academic Affairs, sets performance standards, goals, and priorities.

  • Develops growth and development plans to maximize learning and development opportunities to improve team members’ performance and addresses unit skill gaps.

Serves as leadership representative at external meetings, committees and workshops related to curriculum, instruction and academic assessment and administrative matters.

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships throughout the University.
  • Responsible for overseeing special projects as directed by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
Expected Salary:

$96,500 - $107,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and eight years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in education focused on curriculum or appropriate area of specialization/DDS or Dental Hygiene degree preferred.
