About the Opportunity

The Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University invites applications for the position of Associate or Full Teaching Professor and Director of Computing Programs beginning July 2024 or January 2025 at our campus in Arlington, VA, where will currently offer two programs - Master of Computer Science Align, Master of Computer Science.  The Align program is a national initiative to close America’s tech diversity gap by offering an innovative Master of Science in CS for non-computer science major. Beginning Fall 2024, we will also be offering the Master of Science Cybersecurity Align program, broadening pathway opportunities for those interested in transitioning to a computing career.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals committed to high-quality, inclusive teaching and equity in computer science. Full-time appointments at all ranks are renewable, career-focused, non-tenure-track positions with responsibilities in teaching and service. Khoury College also supports teaching faculty to pursue impactful activities beyond teaching and service responsibilities. Many teaching faculty are active in research and scholarship, diversity initiatives, and service to their local communities.

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate for the Director role will be able to combine strong leadership skills, demonstrated administrative experience, and a commitment to increasing diversity in computer science to create a strategic vision for growth of programs in the region. The Director oversees the operational functions of Khoury programs on the campus, including faculty mentoring, budgeting, and collaboration with Graduate Student Services staff that provide academic advising, cocurricular programming, and career services support. The Director will teach three courses per year and will have the opportunity to recruit full- and part-time faculty at the Arlington campus.  The Director will work closely with the Dean of Khoury College, the Associate Dean of Network Programs, and the Directors of other regional campuses.  The Director will interact with Arlington campus staff and administration as well as the faculty and staff of other colleges in support of regional programs and goals.

Qualifications:


Candidates must hold a PhD in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution by the appointment start date. Appointment rank will be commensurate with experience.

Please summarize your past instructional and/or mentorship experiences, your pedagogical philosophy, your plans/goals for teaching at Northeastern (including existing and proposed courses), and your strategies for teaching and mentoring a diverse cohort of undergraduate and graduate students.

Please provide a statement of your contributions to diversity that describes your past experience, activities, and future plans to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and belonging in your teaching, service, and impactful work outside the classroom.
