Individual serves as Director of Compliance. Individual reports to the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and will assist with various aspects of the compliance program. The Director will assist with the day-to-day operations of the Compliance Office and will help ensure that Pitt’s 19 varsity sports are in compliance with NCAA, ACC, and institutional regulations. The primary responsibilities of the Director include monitoring of Bylaws 15 and 16, including but not limited to student-athlete financial aid, financial aid equivalencies housing, Student Assistance Fund, elite student-athlete insurance, vacation period expenses, Alston Educational Benefits distributions, and Name, Image and Likeness. Successful candidate will also assist with administration of the Alston Educational Benefits plan. The individual will also, as assigned, educate Pitt staff and student-athletes on NCAA, ACC and institutional regulations, and research and prepare NCAA waivers and rules interpretations. Applicant has the ability and understanding to use NCAA website tools, LSDBi, Compliance Assistant, and other computer applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, and database).  Applicant must be able to communicate effectively both in writing and orally to various constituents, have demonstrated commitment to high ethical standards, and possess strong organizational skills with the ability to take initiative, to effectively complete time-sensitive matters, and to multi-task under minimal supervision. Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment and manage stressful situations while meeting deadlines. Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels.



Job Summary

Serves as primary contact for compliance rules, interpretations, and questions and maintains oversight of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) eligibility. Coordinates with other units to monitor admission and eligibility. Assists with the management and processing of compliance files and confidential information and submits Academic Progress Rates (APR) and Graduation Success Rates (GSR). Oversees the Athletics Department’s agent registration program.


Essential Functions 

Responsible for the monitoring of NCAA Bylaw 15, Financial Aid, including but not limited to:

  • Athletically-related financial aid
  • Non-athletically related financial aid
  • Maximum financial aid equivalency limits
  • Student assistance fund
  • Student-athlete housing & parking
  • Collaboration with the Office of Admissions & Financial Aid

Responsible for the monitoring of NCAA Bylaw 16, Awards & Benefits, including but not limited to:

  • Vacation period expenses
  • Student assistance fund
  • Elite student-athlete insurance
  • Occasional meals
  • Awards legislation
  • Alston Education benefits

Responsible for other duties as assigned by Associate Athletic Director or Assistant Athletic Director, including but not limited to:

  • Rules education relating to Bylaws 15 & 16
  • Football gameday responsibilities
  • Monitoring IAWP legislation
  • Outside athletically-related income
  • Co-Oversight of internship program

Physical Effort 

Little physical effort required. Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
