Director of Communications, Institute of Politics and Public Service - McCourt School of Public Policy
Founded as part of the new McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown in 2013 and launched in the fall of 2015, the Institute of Politics and Public Service is dedicated to reconnecting young people with the notion that politics is a noble vehicle for public service.
The Director of Communications at the Institute of Politics and Public Service (GU Politics) will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust communications plan to tell the GU Politics story to both internal and external audiences. This is a high-volume position given the amount of public facing programming we do. GU Politics organizes and participates in programs and events weekly, the Director of Communications owns the integral responsibility of telling our story in order to increase student, alumni, and faculty engagement, as well as to increase opportunities for external partners and fundraising.
The Director's duties include but are not limited to:
- Promoting GU Politics events.
- Interfacing with members of the press.
- Identifying opportunities to amplify and promote the Institute’s activities, fellows, and Executive Director.
- Managing GU Politics social media, website, and digital presence.
- Managing student-run communications initiatives such as the Institute’s podcast, digital journal, and others.
- A Bachelor’s degree
- 3-5 years of experience in political communications, advocacy communications, or media
- Demonstrated experience in digital communications
- A strong interest in politics, government and media
