Summary of Job Duties:
The Communications and Marketing Director plays an integral role in promoting and elevating the School of Law. The director is responsible for developing and implementing an integrated marketing and communications strategy that raises awareness of the School of Law to build its national reputation, help recruit students and faculty, support development operations, and support internal and external outreach. The director collaborates with the dean and faculty to develop publicity for special events, programs and symposia and to develop content and strategy for influencer, admissions and other marketing campaigns.
The Director of Communications and Marketing is responsible for overseeing the planning, editing, and circulation of the School's online newsletters, developing social media strategy and content, writing press releases, the annual report, and all other communication outreach including faculty profiles, and executive communications for the dean. This includes creating an editorial plan to reflect the School of Law's strategic objectives, as well as coordinating with other writers and the school’s webmaster.
Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, marketing or related discipline from an accredited institution of higher education.
At least 3 years full-time professional experience in marketing and public relations communications.
Professional experience in PR writing, content marketing, social media, digital strategy, media relations and editing.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher) and familiar with email marketing software such as Mail Chimp.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education
At least 4 years or more of full-time professional experience in marketing and public relations communications
Recent experience creating and implementing a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy
Experience in external communications in corporate, nonprofit, or higher education organizations
Experience with development campaigns and solicitations
Experience with graphic design software such as Canva or InDesign
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Thought leader and creative communicator and strategist
Excellent, practiced interpersonal, oral and written communications and presentation skills
Ability to curate purposeful, engaging content on faculty achievements and scholarship, student culture and legal education that inspires and increases audience engagement
Strong attention to detail, efficient time management, detail-oriented
Ability to set and meet deadlines
Must be creative and have great organizational skills
