About the Department
 

The Office of College Admissions has a staff of over 40 people, most of whom are admissions counselors. They manage marketing to and recruitment of prospective students as well as the admissions process for first year, transfer, and summer programs. http://www.collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu.


Job Summary
 

This position supports the work of the Office of College Admissions. Admissions Officers are expected to work well both individually, and in teams, to problem solve, manage projects, and act as a positive representative of the University of Chicago.

Responsibilities

  • Leads Admissions programming that leverages University relationships to showcase the diversity of the UChicago experience.
  • Provides oversight for Trustee sponsored summer cohort programs.
  • Serves as the primary contact for outreach and marketing initiatives related to these programs.
  • Ensures resources and funds are efficiently shared whenever possible.
  • Supervises cohort-specific content creation for consistency. Programs include, but are not limited to, the Excellence and Experience at UChicago series and the cohort-based summer scholarship programs.
  • Creates quarterly strategic cohort engagement plans with program directors and provides end of year reporting support as needed.
  • Conducts periodic review of program objectives.
  • Liaise with various University partners.
  • Guides collaborative working groups to share best practices with the goal of a 100% graduation rate for students from underrepresented cohorts.
  • Designs plans to increase brand awareness and alumni engagement as it relates to the College's admissions in the relevant region. Develops relationships with high schools and school counselors in the area. Plans and attends yield events, information sessions, and college fairs.
  • Expands outreach messaging via alumni clubs and special events and/or reunions. Maintains updated alumni contact records and cultivates new contacts in appropriate industries. Manages portfolio of prospective students that require special handling.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or on track to graduate with a bachelor’s degree by June 2021.
  • University of Chicago alumni or selective liberal arts college alumni.

Certifications:

  • Valid United States driver’s license.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Competencies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality.

Working Conditions

  • Work will take place in an office setting or remotely during work-related travel, on and off-campus events, and application review season.
  • Some travel.
