Job Description:

The Lansing School of Nursing and Clinical Sciences at Bellarmine University invites applications for a 9-month tenure track appointment as Director of Clinical Education, Respiratory Therapy Program. The position is available beginning August 24, 2023. 

Responsibilities include oversight of both graduate and undergraduate respiratory therapy clinical experiences. In addition, responsibilities include classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical teaching. Teaching responsibilities include disease management, therapeutic modalities, mechanical ventilation, and cardiopulmonary monitoring.

Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and qualifications. An active research/scholarship trajectory is expected for a tenure track appointment. 

Essential Duties:

  • Demonstrate effective leadership skills including critical thinking, problem solving, goal setting , decision making, delegation, strategic planning project management, coaching and mentoring.
  • Serve as an educational resource to clinical affiliates, task forces, committees and projects related to policy, procedure and program development and community outreach and awareness.
  • Provide direct and indirect instruction and evaluation of students at the various clinical sites.
  • Provide didactic instruction to students in courses assigned by the Program Director.
  • Develop, coordinate and evaluate the clinical instruction of all clinical instructors.
  • Develop, coordinate and evaluate the clinical instruction of the students in the program on a continual basis. 
  • Serve as a liaison between the RT program and the clinical affiliates.
  • Assist in recruitment and selection of students for the RT program.
  • Train, utilize and asses all clinical sites establishing inter-rater reliability.
  • Assist and provide the RT program Director with information needed to maintain CoARC accreditation and standards.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Foster the use of evidence based medicine practice in current and future respiratory care scope of practice.
  • Maintain Kentucky RCP license.


Requirements:

  • Master's or Doctoral degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential
  • Current state RRT license
  • Four years' experience as an RRT with at least two in clinical respiratory care
  • Two years' experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor.
