Director of Clery Compliance and EDI
Office of Public Safety
Location:  New Orleans, LA
Summary
Serves as the principal institutional official responsible for the administration of policies, procedures, data collection, and reporting to ensure compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act as amended by the Campus SaVE Act. This position is responsible for program development in support of community outreach and crime prevention education and crime data analysis. Works collaboratively with various offices at the university to ensure the institution's compliance with the Clery Act and associated regulations. Provides university-wide compliance oversight, direction, training and reporting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of federal and state public safety reporting requirements, including the Clery Act, Department of Justice, and other applicable crime data reporting requirements; policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the Clery compliance program.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques to develop conclusions and make recommendations and decisions.
• Skilled in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
• Skilled in investigating and analyzing problems with a broad administrative impact and implications.
• Skilled in communication, customer service and public relations.
• Ability to select, supervise, train and evaluate subordinate personnel.
• Ability to plan, organize, direct and coordinate the work of subordinate personnel.
• Ability to plan, organize, multi-task, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines, with attention to detail and follow-through.
• Ability to collaborate with multiple entities to plan and accomplish objectives and coordinate ongoing multiple, large and complex projects from conception to completion.
• Ability to stimulate changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more compliant environment.

Required Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree
• AND
• Six (6) years experience in procedural or policy administration, data analysis and reporting, or other equivalent training in Communications, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, or Law. Experience must include program management experience involving the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, and practices.
• AND
• Experience interpreting the laws and regulations associated with the Clery Act, Department of Education mandates, and related federal, state and local laws and regulations including FERPA, Title IX, VAWA and UCR.
• AND
• Ability to obtain a Clery Compliance Officer Certificate within 12 months of employment.
• AND
• Must have a valid and unrestricted (not including corrective lens needs) U.S. Driver’s license and must meet the Tulane University Motor Vehicle Policy criteria to become authorized as a driver.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Communications, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Law Enforcement, Law or related field.
• Two (2) years of work experience with an institution of Higher Education.
• Three (3) years of related work experience with a Clery Act compliance program, including experience with drafting Annual Security and Fire Safety Report and classifying Clery crime and disciplinary referrals.
• Advanced Clery Act Training.
• Experience with police or public safety records management systems.
• Experience in preparing and delivering instructional materials.
• Experience in project management.
Compensation Information
This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 27.
