Director of Building Maintenance & Project Delivery

This position is responsible for managing and supervising the services provided by the following shops:
 


Carpenter Shop

Dining & MTC Maintenance

Electrical Shop

Flooring & Upholstery Shop

Keys, Locks & Access Control

Moving, Receiving & Office Furniture

Paint & Sign Shop

Plumbing & Mechanical Shop

Roofing, Glass & Exteriors


What you'll do in this position: 

  • Direct, oversee and work alongside shop managers; ensure effective customer service, assist with budget formulation, ensure safety procedures are followed, participate in employee interviews and train shop managers in all duties and responsibilities.
  • Ensure effective project delivery by serving as a liaison between the academic community and the BYU shops.
  • Ensure projects are completed with minimal disruption to campus community.
  • Review estimates, budgets and work order assignments.
  • Ensure maintenance and proper visual image of campus facilities by working closely with CNA department. 
  • Provide plan review and inspections on new campus buildings, and ensure shops are included in planning process and specifications are kept up-to-date.
  • Respond to unscheduled daily events to support Physical Facilities and the campus community (constant on-call status for emergency events).
  • Participate in University committees and other assignments as assigned.
  • Other assignments as assigned by Managing Director.

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU 
  • 10 years of experience in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or related fields
  • Administrative, organizational and human relation skills.
  • Computer software skills and aptitude.
  • Extensive building product information and construction background.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree and strong construction and Physical Facilities management experience.
  • Current Utah B100 or R100 General Contractors License, or able to obtain required license.
  • Extensive knowledge of buildings, building components, building trades, and life cycles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and supervisory skills.

The starting salary could be higher if a candidate's years of experience and education is higher than typical.
