We are looking for a Director of Benefits and Wellbeing to lead our efforts to plan and direct the overall design, implementation, communication and administration of Creighton’s health and welfare benefits programs and wellbeing strategy.  As part of our evolving strategy, the Director will lead efforts to evaluate and redesign benefit and wellbeing programs to promote a healthy environment and employee experience.  As an experienced HR leader, you will have the opportunity to partner with staff and faculty and lead an HR team and further advance the success of a very dynamic and leading higher education university.

Responsibilities 

 

  • Oversee the full range of organizational benefits strategy and programs with a focus on attracting and retaining a diverse, highly engaged and effective workforce that supports the University’s Jesuit, Catholic mission and strategic initiatives.  
  • Lead efforts to evaluate and redesign benefit and wellbeing programs to promote a healthy environment and employee experience. 
  • Partner with our people leaders to drive Creighton’s benefits strategies for ensuring our benefit offerings are competitive and well structured for a compelling value proposition to our current and prospective faculty and staff. 
  • Plan, direct and supervise all activities/employees relating to administration and maintenance of employee benefits programs including retirement plans, group health, life and disability. 
  • Oversee the strategy and day-to-day operations for benefits function and ensure our strategy is aligned with organizational needs.   
  • Lead, develop, and coach a team of benefit specialists, to ensure strong team capabilities and service delivery. Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert to guide and set performance standards for the team. 
  • Develop and implement broad organizational benefits strategy and programs in a manner that balances both cost effectiveness and market competitiveness and helps strengthen our employer brand. 
  • Oversees the full range of benefit services for the campus, including implementation of annual open enrollment and interpretation of campus wide policies as they relate to local practices.  

 


Qualifications 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related experience leading benefits and wellness teams  
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in advising on and implementing employee benefit offerings. 
  • 5+ years managing/leading a team 
  • Requires advanced knowledge of benefit trends, labor market conditions, ensuring compliance with regulations and mandates.
