The Bush School of Government & Public Service is seeking a Director of Advising.  Is your passion working with undergraduate students and programs?  We need you to bring this passion to maintain responsibility for the recruitment, retention and graduation of undergraduate students.  You will work under the general direction from the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs and will work with college-wide leadership to improve academic advising programs related to undergraduate student retention and graduation rates.  We need your oversight and management of advising functions for the Bush School by overseeing daily advising operations in the Undergraduate Programs Office (UPO) and providing guidance for the departmental advising staff throughout the college. 

The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University was founded in 1997 on President George H. W. Bush’s philosophy that public service is a noble calling . Since then, the Bush School has continued to reflect that notion in curriculum, research and student experience. Accordingly, our school has become a leading public and international affairs graduate institution.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Ten years of related experience in recruitment, admission, retention and/or advising of students

The well-qualified candidate will have a Master’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, International Affairs, Student Affairs, Higher Education or related field and ten years of experience in college, student or academic supervision of full-time professional staff and demonstrated experience advising undergraduate student populations, working with diverse campus organizations such as records, admissions, registrar and financial aid and experience using Education Board’s Navigate system.
