George Fox University's Advancement Team seeks a curious and innovative data dynamo to manage the flow of information that drives our comprehensive engagement of alumni and donors.


About the Job:

The George Fox University Director of Advancement Operations (DAO) will join an energetic, mission-driven advancement team as our chief researcher and architect of data systems. This individual will oversee Advancement data processes, implement best practices for database management, conduct prospect research, assist in donor identification and qualification, manage gift documentation and records, work closely with the Advancement team to ensure timely and strategic stewardship of donors.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing Advancement Data Processes (35%).
  • Implementing Best Practices for Database Management (15%).
  • Conducting Prospect Research (20%).
  • Managing Gift Documentation and Records (20%).
  • Supporting Comprehensive Donor Stewardship (10%).
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.

A day in the life of this position:

Advancement Data and Research is the backbone of our efforts to engage the community in George Fox's impactful mission. The Director of Advancement Operations is the architect of these systems and ensures each day that the team and divisions across the university are operating with the most accurate and strategic data available. This is a dynamic position that requires a curious and creative mind to help the team manage supporter relationships well. One day, the Director of Advancement Operations could be conducting high-level prospect research for the University's President; the next, they could be training team members on a great new function of our CRM; and the next, they might be strategizing with the engagement or gift team about the most beneficial data set to pull for a particular constituency.

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in successful work experience in higher education and/or advancement functions; or equivalent combination of university education and work experience.
  • The demonstrated ability and/or experience in analyzing and interpreting complex data sets along with the ability to solve problems efficiently.
  • Strategic and influential collaboration skills and the ability to work both independently and collaborate effectively on cross-functional projects, respectfully and with a high degree of customer service.
  • An attitude and spirit of teamwork, respect, and customer service
  • Prior leadership experience and/or the demonstrated ability to lead a team as a manager with professionalism, tact, flexibility, confidentiality, and initiative.
  • A desire to learn, willingness to work in high-pressure situations and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and a keen ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of this position.
  • Experience working with a large relational database and maintaining discretion with confidential materials.
  • A demonstrated professionalism, tact, flexibility, confidentiality, and initiative.
  • Exceptional skills in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preference will be given to those who have the following attributes:

  • Experience with the following programs:
    • A variety of database and CRM software products.
    • Creating and managing PS SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports, Tableau, or other modern report generation technologies.
    • Working with PeopleSoft software or a large relational database.
    • Advancement/ Fundraising in higher education or a nonprofit with national reach.
    • Wealth screening products and budget/revenue forecasting.

  • Hours Per Week - 40 hours
