Job Summary

The Director of Administrative Operations and Planning is charged with lubricating the processes and protocols by which major College initiatives are undertaken, with an eye to ensuring consistent approaches, equitable access to resources, and increased collaboration among College offices.  This position is responsible for representing College interests with FAS and University partners and with disseminating information to College offices to ensure they are able to participate ably in emerging administrative initiatives at the FAS and University.


Job-Specific Responsibilities

IT: Responsible for the implementation of the College Multi-Year IT Strategic Plan.  Identify and implement processes to meet each goal, engage appropriate stakeholders, and ensure planned outcomes.  Revise Strategic Plan as needed and partner with HUIT to extend the plan as necessary.

Various Special Projects: Incl. HC Policy Advisory Board

Facilities & House Renewal: Incl.College liaison to the House Renewal Project team, responsible for communicating College requirements and vision, understanding and explaining the uniqueness of each House under construction, troubleshooting with the Project team to solve construction and programmatic concerns that arise during planning, coordinating with DSO staff on swing housing and other transitional logistics;

Operations: Incl. Support College offices and employees access University services such as parking, telecommunications, and computing equipment and service, and other University benefits; plus work with the Dean of Students Office in implementing resident scholar and staff housing accommodations, as appropriate

 Supervise staff support

 Other: Incl. Represent the Dean for Administration and Finance on committees, working groups, or other FAS/University meetings


Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and seven+ years of administrative or project management experience


Additional Qualifications and Skills

Master's degree and experience in higher education administration or non-profit organizational management.

  • Project management certification

  • Project management experience, technical skills, and demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional, matrixed teams to produce outcomes

·  Process (re)design experience and expertise

·  Technical expertise with enterprise systems, integration with legacy systems, and emerging technologies

·  Strong communication skills

·  Organized, self-starter, results-oriented, confident decision-maker (data-driven)

·  Working knowledge of administrative processes in various disciplines (information technology, space use, human resources, finance, budgeting, strategic planning, etc.) in non-profit organizations

·  Competence with productivity tools (MS suite)

·  Experience and comfort working with external vendors for product and service recommendations and solutions delivery

·  Direct supervisory experience and finance management expertise
