Director of Administrative Operations and External Affairs: Institute for Health Research and Policy
The Institute for Health Research and Policy (IHRP) invites applications for the position of Director of Administrative Operations and External Affairs (DAO). The IHRP is an all-campus multidisciplinary research institute, spanning both the east and west side colleges of UIC, with research that aims to improve health practices, policy, and population well-being and health. As a multidisciplinary, collaborative research enterprise, the IHRP has research projects that share expertise, personnel, and research resources to enhance quality and efficiency. The DAO of the IHRP will direct, administer, and coordinate the internal operational activities of the Institute, and will serve in a key leadership role. The DAO provides a broad spectrum of complex analytical and specialized knowledge of a wide variety of professional areas including finance, program management and long-term planning for the IHRP. Position reports to the Director of the IHRP. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: strategic planning and operations; oversight of all financial operations of the IHRP; monitoring and evaluating fiscal and annual operating budgets; preparing budget forecasts and planning documents; research grant and contract proposal development oversight; fiscal and operational compliance oversight; leading training initiatives and organizational professional development initiatives; serving as the primary liaison between the Institute and university offices; developing and overseeing Institute communications functions, including updates to website; and ensuring the smooth operational functions of the Institute and promoting collaboration and teamwork.
Minimum qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Finance, Economics, Communications or a social science. Masters degree preferred. Certified Research Administrator preferred. A minimum of 8 years experience within a research university setting and applicable experience with increasing responsibility.
