Job Description

DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE, School of Engineering (SoE), to serve as the senior operations administrator for the SoE. Responsibilities will include overseeing all administrative and financial operations, including research administration, budgeting, financial planning and oversight, payroll, and salary certification process; managing and implementing initiatives to improve service delivery and business systems; interacting with SoE units and central departments; serving as the administrative liaison for the school; supporting broad-based strategic initiatives developed or led by the dean on behalf of the school or Institute; and performing other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; seven years of experience in an administrative/management position; demonstrated leadership skills and ability to promote team-building and facilitate consensus; ability to integrate new concepts, practices, guidelines, policies, and emerging technologies into strategic planning and new business methods; good judgment, tact, and discretion with sensitive/confidential matters; excellent problem-solving, coaching, goal-setting, decision-making, analytical, organizational, project management, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills; ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students in a collaborative environment; meticulous attention to detail and accuracy; ability to manage multiple conflicting and changing priorities; knowledge of financial and research administration in an academic or research environment with federal, corporate, and foundation sponsors; experience supervising staff, including recruitment, selection, and performance management and development; and strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and modern financial and HR information systems and database software. PREFERRED: master's degree; MIT experience; and experience with SAP, Brio Query/Cognos, Quick Base, Kuali Coeus, and the Roles Database. Job #23773-11
