This position is a new addition to The Media School's staff team and reports to the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) and the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS).  

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Ensures efficient and compliant coordination with offices across campus, including the registrar, the Graduate School Bloomington, the College of Arts + Science's graduate and undergraduate offices, etc.
  • Solicits input from various Media School teams and leaders when making curricular decisions and distributes academic-related information across the school as appropriate.  
  • Ensures classes are scheduled to accommodate instructor availability and address degree requirements.
  • Works through relevant systems to gain approval for new degree programs, courses and majors and makes relevant course changes related to major requirements and course prerequisites.
  • Ensures accuracy of existing academic credentials (syllabi, learning objectives and assessments) and existing academic disciplines (degrees, concentrations, minors and specializations)
  • Works with the MSCH technical team to ensure that media technology is available to meet the needs of courses as scheduled.
  • Assists with recruitment of adjunct instructors across all majors, maintains records related to recruitment, and creates and implements a structure for supporting and onboarding new instructors.
  • Assigns hourly graduate student employees to duties in support of school needs and provides basic supervision and approves timesheets.
  • Works with supervisors, associate dean for academic affairs, and the director of administration and strategic initiatives to collect enrollment-related data, assist with data analysis, and implement changes based on data collected.
  • Serves as first contact for many student-related concerns, including course permissions, grade change inquiries, academic misconduct issues, student ADA accommodations, and student grievance processes, escalating issues to DUS and DGS as needed.
  • Serves as supervisor and coordinator for the four other staff on the academic team, managing workflows and cross training.  

General Responsibilities

  • In coordination with educational leadership, faculty, and/or staff, designs curriculum for students, courses, degree programs, or schools.  
  • Consults with faculty to determine curricular needs and identify gaps; creates course objectives and outcomes to reach targeted learning.  
  • Reviews proposals to modify existing course curriculum and create new courses; ensures accuracy of information and determines whether proposal aligns with standards and objectives for the course.  
  • Assists with preparation and dissemination of course materials, such as course syllabi, textbook selection, course packs, and other related materials.  
  • Performs evaluation and assessment activities, ensuring consistency across purview, including observation of courses, preparation of course evaluation results, development of reports and outcomes for accreditation review, and analysis of feedback from faculty regarding curricular outcomes.  
  • Manages curriculum mapping process. May take on special projects or escalated curriculum issues. 
  • Makes process recommendations to manager for improved operational efficiency.

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years in related field

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. After a training period, position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs. 

$65,000-$70,000 annually
