The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Divisional Chair, the Director supports the chair by providing overall administrative and financial management oversight of the Division. The Director has complete oversight of the teaching schedule for all MBA, EMBA, MS and Ph.D. courses. The candidate works with the subdivision chairs with recruitment and hiring of the Business School adjunct faculty which positively impacts the students’ experiences.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for partnering with and serving in support of the faculty chair of Management to ensure strong operational and strategic management of the division.
- Manage important moments (strategically and logistically) for all members of the divisions (including faculty, students, staff, and researchers), from welcoming/orienting them to celebrating successes, and managing transitions.
- Working with the Chair, the Dean’s Office, and the DEI office, ensure that the division is a diverse and inclusive unit.
- Together with the Chair, responsible for the overall administrative, operational and financial management of the division. This includes:
- Working with the Financial Planning Office to maintain, reconcile, and troubleshoot the divisional budget as well as any related budgets.
- Oversee divisional administrative staff, managing their workflow in support of faculty. Working with the Human Resources Office to manage administrative hiring as needed. Responsible for ensuring thoughtful career development opportunities for the divisional staff.
- Work with the Dean’s Office (Vice Dean for Administration and Assistant Dean for Faculty Affairs) to ensure that all financial and personnel-related policies and processes are applied in the division. Partner on improved processes as needed.
- Work with the Chair to support full-time faculty through their career path. This includes:
- Working with the Dean’s Office to manage full-time faculty searches in alignment with all School and University policies and processes.
- Supporting faculty throughout the tenure and promotion processes, partnering with the Dean’s Office where appropriate.
- Plan and coordinate on behalf of the chair the divisional teaching schedule for all MBA, EMBA, MS, and PhD courses. This includes:
- Develop a multi-year teaching plan for core and staple elective courses that incorporates curriculum data, student demand data, and faculty leave/sabbatical plans.
- Preparing staffing plans in conjunction with the Divisional Chair and ensuring that all course descriptions are accurate and complete; assisting with logistics of the course development process where needed.
- Collecting and analyzing data to ensure the optimal set of course offerings for any given year.
- Gathers and reports on metrics that relate to program management, i.e., enrollments, sections offered, student/faculty ratios, etc. Provides analysis and feedback to the Divisional Chair, including marketing strategies for attracting new students.
- Works closely with the chair and sub-division chairs to implement their recruitment strategy to attract and hire adjunct faculty. Responsible for assessing the Divisions’ needs and building and maintaining relationships with a core base of proposed adjunct faculty. Responsible for expanding the core base as well as retaining existing adjunct faculty.
- Ensure clear communications and well-planned events for the division. This includes:
- Overseeing the administration of events, including academic conferences, seminar series, brown bags, and PhD reading groups.
- Works on a variety of projects assigned by the Divisional Chair and committee chairs related to management of the division.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. 5-7 years of experience required.
Must have strong communication skills with a variety of constituent groups, including excellent written and interpersonal skills. Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and diplomacy in charged situations. Must have the ability to anticipate problems and craft creative solutions in a complex, ambiguous environment. Ability to juggle multiple, constantly changing priorities and use independent judgment.

Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree strongly preferred. Knowledge of higher education, particularly faculty careers and work, is strongly preferred.
