Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Director, MyPath Training and Employee Development for Strategic Services. Under broad guidance and direction of the Assistant Vice President, Strategic Services, Division of Institutional Planning and Operations (IP&O), provide effective leadership and oversight for a new unit, myPath Training and Employee Development. The position is responsible for employee training and development, by fostering growth through the myPath brand of products.  This includes the maintenance and delivery of all systems training under the unified IP&O NEXUS platform.  Current and additional employee development programs will be implemented, specifically designed to meet the needs of over 2,700 statewide IP&O staff members. 
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Direct the efforts of the myPath Training and Employee Development staff in support of departmental and divisional goals.
  • Lead and manage the development and delivery of growth focused programs that serve and meet the needs of a diverse IP&O community, enabling them to reach their workplace potential. 
  • Ensure the effective development, delivery, and maintenance of myPath training materials for all IP&O NEXUS platform systems.  
  • Direct and supervise all myPath Training and Employee Development support staff, Instructional Course Designers, and Administrative support.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in curriculum/instructional development, instructional course design, instructional technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. 
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in instructional course design within higher education, workforce development. 
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and the ability to work with clients effectively and efficiently to determine specific training needs.
  • Advanced knowledge in a particular field or an advanced degree in a specific field of study in order to perform the functions.
  • Experience with creating training and learning programs and assessing the comprehensive needs of participants. 
  • Knowledge and experience with workforce development programs, particularly those that focus on the career paths of staff and address any challenges that can be addressed through providing the correct instructional or informational guidance.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing programs for under served work force populations.
  • Understanding of and proficiency in e-Learning rapid authoring tools such as Articulate 360 Suite, including Storyline, Review and Rise, Camtasia, and SnagIt, as well as various instructional technology media, web- based course design, and AV equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of learning and instructional theories, practices, emerging technologies, and their applications, especially as they relate to adult learning. 
  • Understanding the ADDIE model and its application for training programs.
  • Establish cooperative working relationships to facilitate and present instructional materials; effectively communicate technical information to a nontechnical audience.
  • Demonstrated skill in establishing and using effective methods of communication with internal and external staff. 
  • Liaise with IT and other departments as necessary to collaborate on training programs that will benefit a diverse audience and provide opportunities for career advancement, self-improvement, and realization of abilities and skills.
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver’s license would be required for this position.

  • The position requires the regular use of a computer and expertise and/or familiarity with the following software: Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook; Articulate Storyline and Camtasia, as well as various instructional technology media, including AV equipment and technology for web-based course design and delivery.
