Overview

University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR's endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University's endowment.

The Director, Marketing & Engagement (Annual Giving) will develop, lead, and manage a comprehensive annual giving direct response strategy to raise dollars and donors for NYU. This program includes direct mail, Phonathon outreach, and digital fundraising to alumni, friends, parents, faculty, staff, and students at NYU. Overseeing a team, the director sets goals and objectives, devises strategies, determines schedules, oversees execution, and monitors results. Review and revise the processes, marketing policies, analytical models, and action plans to develop a comprehensive coordinated multi-channel marketing plan. Build collaborative partnerships with schools and units to support specialized initiatives.

Responsibilities

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience:
7+ years experience in marketing, direct marketing, digital communications, student affairs, alumni relations, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Must include people management experience
Preferred Experience:
Experience in higher education, non-profit, or development environment

Marketing/Analytics certifications a plus
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Expert knowledge of communication and marketing best practices and evolving trends

Excellent communication, strategic planning, interpersonal, presentation, and analytic skills

Proficiency in data analytics and data-driven performance metrics, specifically those pertaining to higher education fundraising and marketing

Highly organized and creative; ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced, team-based environment

Ability to interact with a diverse population, including students, alumni, and university leadership

Familiarity with MS Office, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software

Familiarity with fundraising software such as Advance, project management software, and Adobe Creative Suite

Experience managing and leading a team toward individual and overall team goals


Qualifications

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $110,000.00 to USD $150,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
