Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree  in Higher Education, Student Affairs or a related field and five years of experience. Additional experience may not be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements. The university offers market competitive salary and benefits. Grade EG Salary Range Minimum $48,421, Mid-point $66,269 Maximum $85,798

Position Description

The Director must have a working knowledge of current issues and resources relevant to LGBTQ healthcare nationally and be able to demonstrate both capacity and enthusiasm to work collaboratively on complex projects. The Director will provide leadership to UofL's LGBT Center's and School of Medicine current initiatives, such as  the LGBTQ+ Affirming Healthcare Series, the eQuality project, LGBTQ+ affirming healthcare trainings and skill building, and advocacy for LGBTQ+ affirming policy implementation. 

The Director must successfully support intersectional identities across racial, gender and sexual orientation identities. The Director will work collaboratively across the Health Sciences Campus (HSC) to develop health equity and culturally responsive LGBTQ healthcare curriculum, deliver trainings, assess programs, and contribute to ongoing research in this field.   

The individual in this role will need to be a skilled communicator, able to network, and cultivate relationships from internal constituents (faculty, staff, students, administrators), community leaders, and national experts to potential donors and local leaders of major healthcare organizations and agencies. 

Provide support, advising, coordination and leadership to LGBT student organizations and other campus efforts focused on education and awareness with a focus on HSC. Provide informal counseling to individual students, faculty, and staff, groups, and others served by the office. Provide mediation, support, and education in instances of harm perpetuated against LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff. 

Assist in collaborative programs with HSC Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of Diversity and Equity with policy development and implementation, advocacy, and trainings to address equity concerns across the University of Louisville.

The Director of the HSC LGBT Center reports to the Executive Director for Diversity and Equity and the Vice Dean for Community Engagement and Diversity in the School of Medicine.
