Job Summary

Lead the collaborative advancement of the College's internationalization efforts and direct programs to enhance the experience and development of international students. Act as the principal designated School Official (PDSO) and the Responsible Officer (RO) for the college, responsible for institutional compliance with the United States Department of Homeland Security federal regulations and advising international studies.


Essential Duties

Provide leadership and oversight of Tulsa Community College's Internationalization Plan including, but not limited to: recruitment and retention of international students, assisting academic departments, maintaining SEVIS documentation and fostering cross-cultural understanding to enhance the educational, personal, cultural, and social development of international students.
Research and develop annual International Student Services Recruitment and Retention Plan; oversee implementation of plan.
Supervise International Student Services' staff.
Interpret and advise on complies U.S, immigration laws, regulations, polices, and procedures with a specific focus on F-1 and J-1 immigration regulations.
Collaborate with area community partners developing programs and resources to welcome and acclimate international students.
Serve as the Principal Designated School Official and the Responsible Officer assuring institutional compliance with federal agencies, overseeing SEVIS records maintenance, and complying with matters related to the Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, and the Department of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Manage the International Student Services budget ensuring that student events, supples, and all expenditures are within the allocated budget.
Maintain thorough knowledge of all Campus programs, including academic and extracurricular programs.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to advocate for international students; develop programs and information sessions to assist international students in meeting academic, personal, and professional career goals.
Ability to track economies from various countries with working knowledge of ongoing exchange rates.
Maintain a working relationship with the office of the General Counsel with knowledge of ongoing federal and Supreme Court rulings impacting non-US Citizens.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, International Studies, Counseling, Global Education, Psychology, Human Relations, Social Work, or a related field. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.
5 years related work experience in International Student Services.
Demonstrated Experience with SEVIS and F-1/J-1 regulations, procedures, and reporting requirements as PDSO/DSO is essential, along with considerable knowledge of Department of State and Department of Homeland Security regulations and guidelines.
Strong working knowledge of immigration laws and experience with income tax form 8843 required for F1 Visa income verification.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and supervisory skills.
Knowledge of filing immigration paperwork for all visas and demonstrated understanding of legal interpretation.
Experience in the department recertification process, which is required every two years.


Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Public Administration, International Studies, Counseling, Global Education, Psychology, Human Relations, Social Work, or a related field. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.
