The Director of Institutional Success reports to the Associate Provost of Curriculum and Student Success and is responsible for the development and implementation of educational development programs and services that align with the University’s strategic goals, emphasizing faculty development, continuous institutional improvement, and student retention. This position encompasses three core functions, each representing one-third of the job responsibilities: management of the UHV Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence, the UHV Quality Enhancement Plan, and UHV Retention Initiatives.

Job Function #1: Management of the UHV Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE)

  • Guides and enhances UHV’s teaching and learning excellence through innovative development programs.
  • Serves as the principal leader for collaborative faculty support aimed at teaching efficacy and student learning.
  • Manages UHV’s community and civic engagement to strengthen service learning and co-curricular activities.
  • Collaborates with university departments to fulfill strategic objectives in teaching and faculty development.
  • Identifies instructional delivery challenges and collaborates with faculty on best practices workshops.
  • Drives course design innovation and strategic plan support initiatives, including High-Impact Practices.
  • Advocates evidence-based instructional strategies and advanced educational technologies.
  • Leads CTLE assessment in partnership with Institutional Research and Effectiveness.
  • Oversees center operations, staff management, and financial planning, including grant procurement.
  • Elevates UHV’s reputation in teaching excellence through regional collaboration and national dialogue.
  • Develops faculty support resources and maintains the CTLE as a central best-practice hub.
  • Fosters inter-institutional faculty development partnerships, including those within the UH System.

    Job Function #2: Management of the UHV Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)

  • Oversees QEP implementation and coordinates assessments of its impact on student success.
  • Collaborates with faculty and staff to achieve QEP goals and maintain a detailed activity timeline.
  • Manages QEP budget and documentation, ensuring compliance with SACSCOC standards.
  • Prepares and presents comprehensive QEP reports to the UHV leadership and stakeholders.
  • Acts as the point of contact for all QEP-related faculty and staff activities.
  • Implements a thorough QEP assessment by setting timelines, refining plans, and reporting outcomes.
  • Job Function #3: Management of UHV Retention Initiatives

  • Leads faculty support efforts to boost retention through enhanced instructional strategies.
  • Oversees comprehensive retention programs and utilizes data for innovative retention practices.
  • Utilizes predictive analytics for targeted student outreach and manages Professional Advisory Committees.
  • Assesses course enrollment trends for institutional enrollment management collaboration.
  • Monitors and reports on undergraduate progress to inform retention and graduation strategies.
  • Engages with multiple campus units to develop persistence partnerships and retention initiatives.
