Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring a Director in the Infrastructure Services Department. The Director, Infrastructure Services is responsible for engineering and maintaining the campus-wide information technology infrastructure including enterprise servers and storage, network infrastructure, directory services and authentication, virtualization and cloud technologies, email administration, infrastructure security and telecommunications. In addition, the Director manages and leads the Infrastructure Services staff required to support the College's academic and administrative operations at all campus locations.
Supervise, train, and evaluate the work of the Infrastructure Services staff.
Design, configure, and maintain the College's network environment including wires and wireless networks, and connectivity to service providers for data, voice, video and cable TV services at all campus locations.
Design, configure and administer the network routing infrastructure, segmentation strategies, load balancer configurations, firewall systems, intrusion detection systems, VPN and remote access.
Establish benchmarks for network system performance to ensure overall network health including sufficient bandwidth capacity and reliable application performance.
Administer directory and authentication systems and services.
Responsible for the development, maintenance, and communication of systems documentation relating to infrastructure technologies.
Manage enterprise servers, storage, and backups including virtual, physical and cloud environments.
Maintain a physical inventory of all enterprise servers, network devices, telecommunications hardware, and accompanying software systems. Maintain the proper levels of hardware parts inventory for timely repair.
Assist in the development and maintenance of the technical infrastructure and tools to support an information security program, in collaboration with the Executive Director.
Collaborate with college personnel, contractors, and equipment suppliers to design and implement network infrastructure for new construction, renovations, and existing buildings.
Collaborate with the Executive Director to discuss problems, lifecycle capital planning, new technologies, new ideas, and possible procedural improvements.
Assist the Executive Director in the preparation and management of the annual budget, reporting, and assessment.
Must complete all mandatory work-related and professional development training.
Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Information Technology Services; or Campus Leadership in meeting the needs of the college.
Associate Degree in Computer Science, Business Computer Programming, Computer Engineering Technology, Microcomputer Technology, or Electrical Technology.
Industry certifications such as Comp TIA Server+ and Network +.
Must have a valid Driver's License
Work Experience:
This position requires
A minimum of two year of supervisory experience;
A minimum two years' experience in the engineering and administration of Unix/Linux/Windows based enterprise servers in a virtual environment
A minimum of two years' experience in the implementation and management of a campus-wide computer network and telecommunications systems.
