Description

 

Responsible for writing or overseeing the writing of gift agreements that document major gift (defined as between $25,000 and $2.5 million) and principal gift (defined as over $2.5 million) commitments that enhance the relationship between the University of Houston and its generous donors. Collaborates with teams throughout the Division of University Advancement, as well as University offices outside of University Advancement to draft, review, and proofread gift agreements, proposals and other donor correspondence. Works with Development staff to interact directly with donors and ensures gift agreements are the best possible representation of the donor(s) wishes and University’s interests.

  • Directs gift agreement process for the University of Houston System; writing agreements, interpreting written proposals, reviewing non-standard agreements; coordinates institutional approvals and secures signatures of internal parties and donors.
  • Collaborates with fundraisers and UHS staff to ensure donor intent, stewardship, and reporting is feasible and documented appropriately.
  • Serves as liaison between University Advancement and Office of General Counsel and other internal departments as needed to carry out the mission of University Advancement.
  • Provides guidance to the college or unit on gift and endowment administration and other development and fundraising matters.
  • Manages development professional and support staff within the college or unit on an as needed basis.
  • Administers technology associated with gift agreements and develops and distributes resources.
  • Participates in University-wide advancement and advancement services activities as needed.
  • Administers and/or serves on a committee for other advancement activities, such as matching programs, sponsorships, naming opportunities, gift acceptance, etc. as needed

    Qualifications

     Bachelors and 5 years experience

    Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.Certification/Licensing: None.
