The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Faculty Affairs Director to serve as a member of the School of Medicine Faculty Affairs team. What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience::

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 10 years' experience in business, accounting or personnel operations including supervisory experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others


Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Texas A&M University/System experience

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications

  • Verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities

Responsibilities:

  • Affiliated Faculty - Directs the administration of the affiliated clinical faculty population (over 3,000 physicians). This includes but is not limited to overseeing the administration of the appointments, evaluations, and reappointment, of the affiliated clinical faculty. The position directs the correct performance of the Affiliated Appointment Portal for the College of Medicine, and develops and implements changes to accommodate the needs of our regional clinical campuses. Oversees the compliance with the guidelines of the promotions of affiliated clinical faculty, and directs the compliance with promotion cycle and requirements thereof.

  • Faculty Hiring and Compliance - Directs and oversees the hiring process of faculty for the College of Medicine. This includes resolving issues surrounding documentation submitted in support of the hire, advising department heads on procedures, interacting with the TAMU office for Faculty Affairs on matters surrounding employment of faculty, in excess of effort requests, administrator appointments, emeritus packages, and alike faculty affair matters related to the employment of faculty members.

  • Evaluations, Tenure, Promotion, and Post Tenure - Directs the evaluations, tenure, promotion, and post-tenure cycle for the College of Medicine ensuring compliance with the university’s timetables and requirements for submission of dossiers. This includes, but is not limited to, providing advice on processes, annual evaluation formats, and directing the composition of tenure and promotion letters for review by the Dean. Ensures compliance with the College of Medicine guidelines and procedures, participating in its development and updates.

  • Administration - Responsible for the management and direction of the staff of the Faculty Affairs office setting performance standards and accountabilities. In coordination with the senior leadership of the office of Faculty Affairs, the Director has oversight of the budget of the office and its fiscal operations thereof.

  • Resource - Responsible for development and implementation of programs and initiatives related to faculty affairs as well as the compliance with university, system, State, and Federal laws, relating to employment of faculty members and other applicable compliance matters. Serves on committees related to faculty affairs matters at the college and or university level. Performs other duties as assigned.
