Director for Counseling Operations and Training

Location: Phoenix, ARIZONA

This position is an integral part of the senior administrative team within student counseling services and must be able to balance administrative responsibilities, training responsibilities and student services. This position reports to the Senior Director for Student Counseling Services with the following responsibilities:

Training:

  • This position coordinates the training unit of Student Counseling Services.
  • Ensures efficient and high quality delivery, data collection and evaluation of training services, and coordination of the training programs in accordance with guidelines and accreditation standards of the American Psychological Association (APA) and Nebraska Consortium in Professional Psychology (NICPP).
  • Provides supervision to trainees.

Clinical Services:

  • Assist the Senior Director with coordination, management and further developing SCS clinical operations.
  • Assists Senior Director as part of the central SCS leadership team and manages in absence.
  • Function as a primary consultant on cases for staff, trainees, and other members of the campus community when guidance is needed.
  • Provides administrative supervision and oversees SCS staff performance.

Student Services:

  • Provides therapeutic services to Creighton University Students.

Essential Functions:

  • Administers all training programs operated at Student Counseling Services. Represents and advocates for the training program at SCS as part of NICPP. Coordinates selection of all trainees, trainee orientation, trainee evaluations, and supervisor selection. Works with other providers in SCS coordinating parallel activities involving trainees. Provide clinical supervision for trainees.
  • Oversees Clinical Operations, provides consultation, administers and monitors staff performance, and assists Senior Director.
  • Provides therapeutic services to students seeking counseling services, including documentation and case management.
  • Participate in university meetings and/or divisional committees.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Counseling, Psychology or related. 
  • Independent Licensure (or eligible) as a LIMHP in Nebraska.
  • Five years’ post-degree experience in mental health setting.
  • Previous experience in developing and conducting training in mental health setting.
  • Previous experience in developing and implementing clinical services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Multicultural awareness and cultural humility are highly valued. Working at Student Life and Student Counseling Services requires the ability to conceptualize a broad range of clinical issues from a multicultural and social justice perspective.   • Strong written and verbal communication skills and basic computer skills are required.
  • Ability to interact and work with various campus and community resources and partners.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills with an ability to develop and deliver outreach and educational programming to various audiences.
  • Knowledge of various social media platforms including, but not limited to, Instagram and Twitter.
  • Understanding of relevant confidentiality issues.

Licenses/Certifications:

Licensure (or eligible) as a Psychologist in Nebraska
