Elevate your professional expertise as the Director of Fire Department & Law Enforcement Continuing Education & Quality Improvement. This leadership role oversees a dynamic and multi-faceted division integrated with 28 state agencies in Los Angeles County. As the Director, you’ll spearhead initiatives to ensure compliance with LA County Department of Health Services standards, conduct pioneering pilot studies, and champion best practices. Collaborating closely with affiliated fire departments and law enforcement agencies, you’ll provide essential continuing education, coordinate ride-a-longs, and maintain the certification and licensure of EMTs and paramedics. Annual range: $84,300-$166,700



  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

Required: * Minimum of five (5) years previous working as a fire department nurse educator with quality improvement responsibilities with a positive track record. * Three years of management and supervision experience. * Demonstrated experience preparing for and successfully completing Los Angeles County EMS Agency Continuing Education and EMS Quality Improvement Audits. * Detailed working knowledge of Los Angeles County Department of Health Services Emergency Medical Services Agency and State of California EMT, paramedic and provider policies and procedures. * Current certification as a Registered Nurse with Mobile Intensive Care Nurse. * Five (5) years experience in a critical care setting. * Five (5) years experience as a Mobile Intensive Care Nurse. * Previous experience working as an EMT or Paramedic. * Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience in emergency medical services or equivalent health care setting. * Current provider certification in BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association. * Completion of NAEMSE/NHTSA EMS educator course, Firefighter 1A/1B, or American Heart Association “Core” instructor course. * Detailed knowledge in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective objectives required for EMTs and Paramedics. * Detailed knowledge and experience in the application and techniques of clinical equipment and supplies. * Working knowledge of the different scopes of practices for EMTs, paramedics, registered nurses, and physicians. * Ability to foster a stimulating classroom environment. * Skill in working independently and following through with minimal direction. * Skill in working as part of a team collaborating with colleagues. * Valid unrestricted California drivers’ license and available to travel to off campus locations for contract instructional assignments or special projects. * Ability to provide service oriented customer assistance in a professional and courteous manner; and interpersonal skills to excel in relations supervisor, staff, students, and the public. Preferred: * Baccalaureate degree in health related field, nursing, health care administration, health care education, emergency medical services or a related field. * Previous work experience as a Prehospital Care Coordinator for a base hospital. * Current instructor certification from the American Heart Association in BLS, ACLS and PALS.
