Founded in 1923, with 360 charter members, The Ohio State University Faculty Club is nestled neatly on the Oval in the heart of The Ohio State University’s Columbus campus. While today the rich tradition of the Club can be seen through its well-appointed club building, one can also see beyond the tradition, recognizing the diverse opportunities offered to the entire Ohio State community. Today the Faculty Club remains true to its tradition while focusing on the future.


Position Description

The General Manager will need to be a visible and accessible leader to both the members and staff. The ideal candidate will have impeccable integrity and promote trust. This individual will guide all Club operations under the direction of the Board of Control. The General Manager will have a positive attitude, approachable personality, and outstanding work ethic. The ideal candidate will be a leader, mentor and liaison between the University administration and the club, all club department heads and committees and understand the importance of these relationships.


The General Manager will have the necessary management skills to quickly assess, develop and execute planned adjustments and goals for the current Club operations as we continue to emerge from the pandemic. This assessment includes a review of all operating practices with the focus on providing relevant programming to engage the membership with the overriding objective of delivering an outstanding member experience. The ideal candidate will be a leader whose presence will guide the Club as a progressive thinker with a strategic vision.


The General Manager will have proficiency in reviewing and interpreting financial results and will have a proven competency in business administrative functions. The key role of the General Manager is to provide cohesive and collaborative leadership, build consensus, and provide guidance as a coach to develop the staff. Knowledge of and/or previous experience working in a campus-based university club is a plus. Final candidate must successfully complete a background check.

    Additional Information:

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor's Degree in hospitality or similar degree or equivalent experience.

    • Five or more years of directly related experience in administrative and food and beverage leadership role(s)

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including proficiency for formal presentations.

    Desired

    • 8-12 years of relevant experience.

    • Evidence of outstanding customer service skills

    • Experience in a Private Club of comparable size, especially a campus-based university club.

    • Experience with capital improvement projects

    • Demonstrated long and short-term planning ability

    • Working knowledge of supporting staff recruitment, training and development.

    • Embraces a growth mindset, willingness to embrace change, and the ability to celebrate results

    • Strong working knowledge of accounting systems appropriate to the club

    The salary range for this job profile is $67,700-$90,300.

    The pay rate offered in this range will be based on the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and available budget.
