The Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (UE) Division engages students and instructors with resources that promote academic excellence, enable student success and enhance the undergraduate student experience. The incumbent reports to the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, and provides leadership and guidance in designing and implementing evaluation studies related to undergraduate education student success, and coordinates assessment plans with senior administrators, campus committees, faculty, and staff. As part of these responsibilities, the Director will prioritize and complete research and evaluation requests, perform statistical reporting, write reports, manage course evaluations, facilitate the reporting of grant activities related to teaching improvement and assessment, and administer surveys in order to meet campus and organizational strategic goals. The Director trains faculty and staff on issues related to academic assessment, regional and professional accreditation processes, and best practices and tools for assessment. |Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.||Required|

|Doctoral degree in related area, with coursework in social science methods, education, psychology, statistics, or research and survey design.||Preferred|
|Minimum of 5 years of related experience.||Required|
Demonstrated ability to use techniques to extract and use data report writing tools from on-line systems and databases, including ability to organize and process the data for analytical purposes.
Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
Knowledge of professional standards and techniques for technical aspects of research and evaluation studies, including research design, statistical techniques, data collection instrument development (e.g., survey and interview questions), and data collection methods; using statistical and database software (such as Stata, SPSS, SAS, Oracle, or equivalent).
Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with various and diverse constituencies at UCR, and within the UC system, and to work productively and efficiently in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Extensive knowledge of and experience in conducting evaluation and assessment studies, at various levels (e.g. student-level, course-level, program-level, and institution-level).
Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
Demonstrated ability to apply qualitative and quantitative research designs and statistical techniques including theoretical knowledge of, and practical experience with, advanced statistics including multiple regression, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and matching procedures.
Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals/analyses.
Strong policy analysis techniques.
Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated knowledge of undergraduate education issues in institutions of higher education.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience participating in or leading WASC Re-Accreditation activities.
Demonstrated organizational and facilitation skills in leading cooperative activities with various administrative units, such as coordinating, facilitating, and participating in meetings for the purpose of resolving differences and working towards common goals, and ability to function effectively as a member of a team.
