Department Summary
The Office of Institutional Integrity and Awareness (formerly known as the Office of Institutional Compliance and Integrity) creates an integrity-based approach that combines compliance with an emphasis on responsibility for ethical behavior. This includes making values driven choices that are rooted in the HSC Values and Code of Culture. The office has oversight and management HSC’s Compliance Program which includes policies, clinical compliance, compliance education and training, privacy, investigations, Integrity Framework, conflict of interest and Code of Culture.
Position Overview
The Director of Ethics Engagements with the Office 0f Institutional Integrity and Awareness assists with developing, communicating, executing, and sustaining compliance program initiatives. This position will focus on accelerating the compliance program and culture through the execution of the compliance strategic plan, knowledge management, and organizational effectiveness of the Integrity Framework. The Director of Ethics Engagement is responsible for formalizing the department’s strategic processes, leading the evolution of the strategy, translating it for students and employees, driving organizational change, forging new working relationships and synergies across the institution, and establishing greater transparency and accountability. In addition, the Director is responsible for assessing whether compliance strategic initiatives are aligned with the HSC Strategic Plan, objectives, and key results.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree Minimum of 7 years ’experience with a thorough understanding of strategic or project management, development organization skill especially in designing, planning, implementing, institutional programs
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Skill in decision making by considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and choosing the most appropriate one.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in related field
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) ethics
  • Experience in higher education or academic medical center setting
  • Experience in elements of effective compliance programs
  • Experience in a communication and/or training role
Required License / Registration / Certification
  • Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) or commitment to obtain such within one-year post hire

Job Duties


o
  • Supervise and direct the LMS Administrator/Instructional Designer, Project Manager, and Compliance Risk Analyst by providing day-to-day guidance, leadership, mentoring, and development of direct reports aligned with HSC Values and best practices
  • Manage and oversee the Code of Conduct to ensure continued update and relevance, along with collaborating with various stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and ensure fulfillment of the Code of Conduct practices
  • Develop metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the effectiveness of the integrity and compliance program initiatives and make recommendations for strategic improvement
  • Assists with implementing the HSCs Integrity Framework by developing forward-looking strategies to address regulatory and integrity risk; develops a holistic integrity program using elements of the compliance program and robust policies, procedures, and infrastructure as needed
  • Provide and assist the Chief Integrity and Privacy Officer with completing data analytic reports to Senior Management that capture the overall performance of the integrity and compliance program
  • Represents compliance and integrity program and the Chief Integrity and Privacy Officer on various committees and meetings
  • Assist with the development of management plans to mitigate conflicts of interest and oversee the daily non-research components of the conflict-of-interest compliance program
  • Assist with creating the initiative on the effects of artificial intelligence on compliance and ethics to establish standards and use of AI in education, research, and healthcare settings
  • Create and cultivate integrity practices prioritizing responsible AI utilization to ensure all employees are committed to ethical AI development
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
