Job Description:

The Director, Doctoring Program will serve as a senior leader within the Office of Medical Education (OME) at the Warren Alpert Medical School (AMS) of Brown University and oversee the administration and execution of the Doctoring Program. This includes the development, implementation, and continuous quality improvement efforts of the foundational clinical skills curriculum including all Doctoring courses and the Clinical Skills Clerkship (CSC). The Director will work closely with the Assistant Dean of Medical Education / Director of the Clinical Curriculum to ensure collaboration between the foundational clinical skills curriculum, clinical experiences such as clerkships, sub-internships, and clinical electives, and the transition to residency (TTR) curriculum. The Director will collaborate closely with other senior leaders including the Associate and Assistant Deans of Medical Education and Student Affairs to develop, maintain, and evaluate clinical skills programming; support student success; incorporate integrated curricular components from across various courses at AMS; and participate in relevant administrative and curricular committees to further the clinical skills mission across AMS.

This is a part-time, 25 hours per week, 67% FTE position.

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • MD/DO or MD/PhD degree

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the Doctoring Program as a course director or assistant course director, or equivalent experience at AMS or another institution

  • Record of teaching excellence in medical student education as demonstrated by course evaluations and teaching awards

  • Excellent leadership skills as demonstrated by sustainable impact of programmatic, curricular, and change management initiatives

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a high-functioning interdisciplinary team

  • Excellent writing, communication, data analysis, leadership, and organization skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple curricular projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities and needs

  • Comfort with common technology related to information sharing, data collection and analysis, and educational content delivery (currently includes Microsoft suite, Learning Space, OASIS, and CANVAS)

  • Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community
